Went to Chutneys on a Sunday night not expecting anything but even so late the service and food were both amazing! Everyone was incredibly friendly and the food was really really good. Our server Hira (unsure how to spell) also was one of the highlights of the night. The ambiance as well was very calming and relaxing. Highly recommend!

It was a lovely experience. The ambience was impressive. We really enjoyed the food especially the vegetarian matka biryani! It was absolutely delicious as was the lasooni paneer and Pindi choley. Very attentive staff and great service by Heera! He helped us with suggestions not only on what to order but how much. We had added way more dishes and he told us the portions were big and that we would have too much left over. Given that we were from out of town, taking back leftovers was not an option. Overall a great visit to a restaurant that we would come back to on our next trip!

Chutneys in Bellevue has undergone a remarkable transformation since my visit two years ago. Back then, the food was below average, but I was flabbergasted by the taste this time around. It seems like they've made massive changes, probably brought in a new chef, and the improvement is undeniable. While the average ratings may not reflect this yet due to past issues, the current menu delivers dishes that come impressively close to the flavors of Mumbai. As someone who's usually very critical about Indian food in the U.S., I had my eyebrows raised by several items. One appetizer that hit home was the "Manchurian Bombs". These tasted highly similar to the ones you'd find in Mumbai, India. I won't give away too much detail because the surprise is part of the charm. The standout for me was the "Lasooni Paneer Tikka Makhani"--perfectly grilled cubes of paneer served in a rich, creamy cashew and tomato-based gravy with bell peppers and onions. It wasn't too thick or overwhelming, just a great balance of flavors. Pairing it with their "Garlic-N-Cilantro Naan" (crispy with extra butter, as I recommend) made the meal even better. However, I had high hopes for the "Rumali Roti", which is extremely rare to find in the U.S., but unfortunately, it was a letdown, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone visiting. The other main course we had was the "Veg. Nizami Handi", which was surprisingly very good, especially considering that this restaurant primarily focuses on North Indian cuisine while this dish leans more toward South Indian style. I also had a decent mocktail called the "Cucumber-N-Mint Cooler", which was sweeter than I expected but still refreshing. For dessert, the "Sizzling Chocolate Brownie with Ice Cream" was very good--maybe not excellent, but certainly worth trying. The service was impressive, with staff frequently checking to ensure everything was good. The ambiance is decent, though it can get loud, as they have a live singer performing Indian songs on the mic. If you're looking for a quiet dining experience, this might not be the place for you. However, I found the vibe nostalgic and enjoyable. I went in with a vegetarian friend this time, so I didn't get to try the meat options, but I'll be back soon to explore more of the menu and update my review. For now, it's safe to say Chutneys is a hidden gem with some fantastic dishes, and it's worth a visit!

Overall great presentation. They had dry ice, everything was pretty and picturesque. We ordered the high tea (we started with one and ended with 2, for 4 people, they say it serves 2-3 but I'd say if it's all you're ordering aim for it serving 1-2). We almost weren't able to order the second I'm guessing because of reservations and timing so just make the right call first. Now, the food is cute, but I was a bit disappointed it didn't have everything listed on the menu, they just have run out because instead of the vol a vent pastry, they had Mac and cheese bites and a mozzarella stick which is not what I expected. Similarly the dessert was off too compared to the menu. I'd rather they call out what you won't be getting as part of the menu. It's strange though because we got there just as they opened so I'm surprised they didn't have everything. I'll say because we still got a bit of room, we also ordered some snacks and the paneer tikka which was nice and smoky (a bit too spicy for my partner but I liked it). And my favorite was the papdi tacos, such a cool take on papdi chaat and the taco shell was yummy. That saved my feelings towards the place and I'm willing to come back to see if it'll get the star back.

Indian husband approved! We came here with some friends visiting from out of town, and all the food was very good. Tip: get the aloo kulcha instead of the garlic naan - it's way better! Food: The lamb biryani is on the spicy side, and tastes very authentic (according to my North Indian husband). Butter chicken is always a hit, and both that and the paneer were creamy and flavorful. The mango lassi was creamy and refreshing. I wish they had bigger straws! I didn't have enough stomach space to try the malai kofta, but everyone seemed to enjoy it. Service - it took an hour to get our food. We sat at 7:30pm, ordered pretty quickly, and got the food at 8:30. Maybe because it was a Friday? Every table was occupied, and there were several large parties. The staff (and whole restaurant) sing happy birthday to the birthday people. There was also a musician/DJ who was playing music, and sang covers of songs.
